The MUSH (Multi-User Shared Hallucination) branch of the MUD family tree includes games that tend to be centered around roleplaying, world-building, or socializing, rather the combat and level-gaining aspects of other types of MUDs.The MUSH family includes TinyMUSH, PennMUSH, and TinyMUX as well as other less common relatives.
| Please submit only web sites for games that are comic-related, such as X-Men, TMNT, etc. |
Online text games based on various comic universes, superhero and non-superhero.
Roleplaying MUSHes with a fantasy theme.
|
Please submit only resource web sites to this category. If your web site is for a particular game, please submit it to the main Games/Online/MUDs/MUSH category or the appropriate subcategory. |
Sites whose purpose is to provide a comprehensive overview of MUSHing. Resource sites typically include general information and provide directories, FAQs, chats and forums, publications etc.
| Player-run websites about their characters should be submitted in the subcategory 'Player Pages'. |
Roleplaying MUSHes with a science fiction or science fantasy theme. The Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia defines science fiction as the "literary genre to which a background of science or pseudoscience is integral. Although fantastic, it contains elements within the realm of future possibility."
Theodore Sturgeon, one of defining authors of the contemporary genre, described it as "...a story built around human beings, with a human problem, and a human solution, which would not have happened at all without its speculative scientific content."
Basically, if you feel your site falls under these descriptions, it belongs here. Games which lean more toward fantasy or games which include other themes besides science fiction should be listed under one of those other categories. Fantasy, Social, or Other Themes. Games using any of White Wolf's "World of Darkness" themes, even when used with a futuristic setting, belong under the category for those games.
Social or unthemed MUSHes: places to build, hang out, make nifty toys, chat, etc.
Online text-based games (TinyMU*s) set in the World of Darkness, a collection of roleplaying games from White Wolf Publishing. The setting is our world, but grimmer and more sinister.
