Submitting your web site to Zimbabwe Business and Economy

  • If the scope of your business is local, eg: a hotel, please consider the sub-categories of Localities, which includes principal cities and resorts.
  • Before you submit, please use the search facility to see if your URL is already in the Open Directory. Search separately on domain and title.
  • If your URL is not in the Open Directory, please ADD it to an appropriate category ...

Filling in the Add URL form

  1. URL
    • Enter the fully-qualified URL (no redirects please).
    • If the URL is an index page to a directory, omit the file name, eg: index.html, index.shtml, default.html, etc.
    • If your URL is a splash page containing Java, Flash or other plug-ins, consider submitting an alternative page at your site.

  2. Title - must be the name of the business, and nothing else.
    • Do not capitalise. Even if the actual page title includes waffle, don't include it in the form.

  3. Description - should be similar to your description meta-tag (if you have one), but ...
    • Don't try to spam the directory, don't try to trick Open Directory editors or users - it will work against you!
    • Don't use promotional language. Your description should be objective and factual. It is in your own interests, especially if your web site is commercial - web users are becoming highly resistant to ad-speak. ODP editors are expected to remove gibberish!
    • More people will find your entry via search than by directory browsing - but not if your description consists of promotional language. Please make sure it is accurate, so we don't have to change it.
    • Write proper sentences in plain English, using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. Incorporate relevant keywords, provided that they really are used on your page.
    • Keep it fairly short - don't force us to edit it for you.

Please don't submit multiple pages from one domain - unless they are clearly about different topics.

Don't submit pages that are (or look) under construction.

This category will list companies that produce products from raw materials and the companies that support them, such as distributors, wholesalers, industrial supply companies and manufacturing representatives. The general types of companies that will be listed here are food processing, aviation, conveyors, electronic, guns, instrumentation, mining, drilling, chemicals and textiles; however, the list is not limited to these industries.
